There is nothing I love more than hot chocolate in the wintertime. Especially homemade hot chocolate *squeals* is there anything better?! This holiday season I have been totally in love with hot cocoa bombs, in fact, I even made them as party favors at my annual Holiday Gift Exchange. It’s fair to say I am pretty obsessed.
What are Cocoa Bombs?
Cocoa bombs are festively packaged hot chocolate kits. Essentially, it’s cocoa powder and marshmallows nestled in a sphere of chocolate. Adding melted chocolate to a silicone mold, you’ll harden your chocolate into a hollow semi-sphere. I tend to add another layer of chocolate for a thicker and sturdier sphere. Simply fill one half of the sphere with cocoa powder and marshmallows then attach another semi- sphere using melted chocolate. Allow to harden, decorate, and you’re all set. Pop your cocoa bomb in a steaming cup of milk and you’ve got easy and simple hot cocoa!
Hot Cocoa bombs are an easy and fun holiday treat to prepare with the whole family. Have a decorating contest with the kiddos to see who can make the most festive cocoa bombs. Want to add an adult kick to your cocoa? Throw in a splash of Bailey’s or Amaretto for a cozy night to remember.. or can’t remember, completely up to you.
