Wine Tips

Wine 101: Dos and Don’ts

Whether you’re new to wine or a proclaimed expert, remembering all the dos and don’ts of wine can be tedious. After all, there isn’t an official guidebook that we all get when we take our first sip ( I might invest in that in the near future so don’t steal my idea lol). Like most things in the wine world, how you enjoy your wine is pretty subjective but I thought it would be helpful to share a few tips/no-no’s that I’ve learned along the way! Trust me, I’m saving you from years of trial and error.

This list will be updated as tips are discussed on my vlog or other social media.

Don’t: Putting ice in wine to chill it

Unless drinking a wine cocktail or a Sangria, I do not advise putting ice in wine.  Adding ice to wine chills the wine but if it melts, get ready for diluted wine with altered flavors, aromas, texture, and taste.

⠀Try these methods for chilling your wine without altering the taste:

•Place your bottle of wine in the fridge for 20 mins

• Place your bottle of wine in a bucket full of ice

• For faster results, try placing your wine bottle in a saltwater ice bath

•Using Whiskey stones

•Substituting ice cubes for frozen grapes
