Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 15 Mins Cook Time: 7 Mins Total Time: 22 Mins

Elevate your holiday desserts with this simple yet decadent homemade whipped cream recipe.

Whether your desserts are  homemade or store-bought, a dollop of delicious homemade whipped cream is sure to take your desert over the top. There’s nothing quite like the taste of homemade whipped cream, especially when it’s infused with the warm, comforting aroma of pure vanilla. With only 4-ingredients, this recipe is incredibly easy to make, and the results are simply divine.

Tips for Perfect Whipped Cream:

  • Chilled Mixing Bowl:: A cold bowl helps slow down the whipping process, reducing the risk of over whipping.
  • Pure Vanilla Extract: Let’s skip the imitation vanilla and go for the real thing for a richer and bolder flavor.
  • Use Cold Ingredients: Ensure your cream is well-chilled before whipping.
  • Avoid Overwhipping: Overwhipping can lead to a grainy texture. Stop whipping as soon as stiff peaks form.
  • Store Properly: Store leftover whipped cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Instructions:

  1. Chill Your Bowl: The key to achieving stiff peaks is a cold bowl. Chill your mixing bowl in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before starting.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the whipping cream and vanilla extract to the chilled bowl. Slowly incorporate the powdered sugar, then add the ground vanilla.
  3. Whip to Perfection: Using a whisk attachment on a stand mixer or a handheld mixer, whip the cream on high speed until stiff peaks form. This typically takes about 5-7 minutes.

Can You Use a Hand Mixer?

You sure can! A hand mixer will definitely do the trick. However, using a stand mixer can make the process a bit easier and quicker.

I prefer using a stand mixer to free up my hands and I find that I get a smoother, more consistent whipped cream.

No stand mixer, no problem. A hand mixer will still get the job done but it will take a bit of extra energy.

Does Imitation Vanilla Cut It?

Short answer: Not really.

While imitation vanilla extract is a budget-friendly option, it just doesn’t compare to the flavor and aroma of pure vanilla extract. Here’s why:

  • Flavor: Pure vanilla extract is made from real vanilla beans, giving it a richer, more complex flavor. Imitation vanilla, on the other hand, is often chemically produced and can taste a bit artificial.
  • Aroma: Pure vanilla extract has a more potent and authentic vanilla scent. It can elevate your whipped cream to a whole new level of deliciousness.

Serve your homemade whipped cream on cakes, hot chocolate, pies, or simply enjoy it with fresh berries.

Enjoy!
